Who is John Lopiano?

On the sixteenth day of the fourth month, nineteen hundred and ninety in the year of our Lord, a man and a woman gave birth to a son at just around ten o'clock in the morning. He was their special little guy. In their eyes, he would grow up to be a sophisticated and respectable, young gentleman; the envy of his peers and the epitome of greatness.

Fast forward twenty years, and we find our man to be none other than the complete opposite of everything his parents could have ever imagined.

Hey, that's me. I'm John Kevin Dominic Lopiano, Jr. I'm a twenty year old aspiring journalist and I attend Seton Hall University in South Orange, NJ where I major in the study of Political Science and minor in the Italian language. I was born and raised in a middle class apartment in the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn, living above my grandparents, my two uncles, and my aunt, as well as next door to my grandmother and uncle. It was here I learned everything I ever needed to know. When I was just about twelve years old, I moved to Staten Island, NY. Judgments need not be made about this fact.

As a child, I was always a very proficient writer and what some might call mentally challenged in the field of mathematics, so I always knew I wanted to write for a living. I just didn't know exactly what I would write about, and sometimes to this day I still haven't figured myself out. Recently I decided I would just write about anything that came to my mind. Whether it was movies, politics, sports, books, etc. If I had something to say, I would say it...and that is where this blog comes in. I like to watch movies and read books and listen to music and study politics, so here is where I comment on all of that for your enjoyment (or in some cases displeasure).

Some other things I do: I am a staff writer for Seton Hall University's campus newspaper, The Setonian, for both the Sports section and Pirate Life section; I am an Assistant Producer and member of the Sports staff at 89.5 FM WSOU, Seton Hall Pirate Radio; I am a Sports Information Assistant in the Seton Hall University Athletic Communications Department; I am a member of the grounds crew for the Staten Island Yankees (New York Yankees Class-A Short Season affiiliate).

If you read my posts, I would love for you to comment. Feedback is the best way for me to get to know the people who read my blog and I love differing opinions. If you have any questions for me (I don't know why you would...), feel free to email me at lopianja@shu.edu.
